Vintage Guitar Show Veenendaal 21-09-2019
After attending the March edition of the Vintage Guitar Show I really wanted to attend this September edition as well.
It is just so much fun to be able to talk about and show my guitars and bass and meet a lot of new people who are just as much in love with everything Guitar as I am.
So once again me and Kirsten loaded up our car and set off to Veenendaal to promote the Unquendor Guitars and my “Custom Guitar Experience”.
I think I’m very blessed to have my wife support me on this whole Unquendor Guitars endeavor and help me prepare for these events and join me at the booth the entire day.
And we had a lot of preparing to do. We made a new flyer, new photo albums, photo presentation, t-shirts, etc. I couldn’t have done it all without her support.
We arrived at the venue nice and early and could start setting up the booth straight away.
This gave us plenty of time to get it setup just perfect. We got a different spot from the March edition which was very nice. It gave us more room to set up the tables and banners and was not as crowded. The down side was it was out of the natural flow of people browsing the stands. So we really had to draw the attention to our booth.
To make sure potential customers found their way to our booth we had a slideshow running with pictures of the building process of the guitars on display. This seemed to work pretty well. Those who visited the stand enjoyed watching it and were impressed that my guitars were indeed all handcrafted.
Even before the doors to the venue opened there was already a queu forming of Guitar enthousiasts who wanted to come in as early as possible to scout any potential deals. With so much vintage and collectable gear in one place who knows what you might find to add to your collection.
As soon as the door opened we had people coming to our booth to take a look at my Guitars and asking me questions about the “Custom Guitar Experience”. Especially the new Tulkas Bass guitar got a lot of positive reactions. People really seemed to like the design and playability of this bass. Unfortunately I didn’t bring a Bass amplifier which meant people couldn’t really hear how good it sounds through an amp.
I think if I had a Bass amp with me I might have sold the bass.
Although I did bring an Guitar Amp. and some visitors did test play a guitar, unfortunately I didn’t sell any guitars.
In the afternoon 2 very familiar faces appeared at the show.
Both Thijs de Jong and Ron van Beijnen came to visit me and to take a look around at the show. I really appreciate all the support they give me and Unquendor Guitars. Again who knows what the (near) future may hold. But I think you can expect some more collaborations.
It was a great day with all kinds of amazing feedback and friendly people coming to see my guitars but one of the highlights for me personally was Mr. Wilbrink, the CEO of Teye Guitars, coming to complement me on my work and inviting me for coffee over at the Teye workshop in Nashville when I’m in the area.
For me this proves I’m on to something and although I haven’t sold one yet, I just have to keep building guitars.
I’m already planning what to build next and what to do for the next show on the 14th March 2020.
